Our story
Accquan started in Buea as an initiative of GoGreen Technologies (opens in a new tab), a youth empowerment non-profit. Through our work with young people, we kept seeing the same thing: they were learning skills and finding work, but nobody was talking about what to do with the money once it came in.
Money is rarely discussed openly in our communities. And on your own, saving a few hundred francs a day can feel pointless. Nobody can buy land or company shares with 500 FCFA.
But our parents and grandparents already knew the answer: the njangi. Save together, hold each other to it, and what feels small for one person becomes something real for the group. Accquan takes that old idea and gives it a clear purpose: saving every day for a year, then owning real assets together.
Where we're heading
Now
Bring 500 young people together, saving every day in Annual Njangis, and make our first purchase together.
Next
Grow step by step and, in time, register as a cooperative owned by its members.
Later
Share what works with young people in other towns and countries.
Accquan teaches, guides and brings people together. It is a community, not a bank, and it does not invest your money for you: members decide together.
